What's the go with Wo!?
Wo! Magazine is an experiment in alternatives to the current women's magazines in Australia. It is a feminist project intent on creating and providing something interesting that isn't focussed on commercial mass culture and giving women hang ups about their bodies and sexuality.
It is an attempt, of sorts, at repositioning feminism in a society which is still obsessed with the 'hairy bra-burner' myth. We want to pick ourselves up from feminist 'ground zero', dust ourselves off and redefine the 'f-word'. In other words, Wo! Magazine aims to challenge the myths perpetuated in the mass-media and elsewhere whilst providing timely, intelligent and amusing commentary on issues that affect us.
Wo! explores both global and Australian issues and will have a focus on alternative cultures and current affairs. What Wo! isn't is gossip, celebrity-focussed, does-he-love-me, weight-obsessed drivel.
Why is the site so goddam pink?
Apart from the editor having a self-indulgent penchant for pink, it is also a reclamation of a colour which has traditionally come to represent a typical femininity. We here at Wo! want to subvert this construction. As we like to say: "Pink, Punk the difference is U".

Wo! Magazine recognises that feminism is a many and varied movement and the views of articles that appear within are not necesarily the editorial view of the mag. So revel in pluralism and all that jazz.
